Alessia d’Amico is an Assistant Professor at the International and European Law Department of Utrecht University, where she coordinates the LLM Law and Technology. Her research focuses on the regulation of digital platforms, in particular from a competition and data protection perspective. She has a PhD in Competition Law from the European University Institute. She previously worked for the UK Competition and Markets Authority, and holds an LLM in Competition Law from King’s College London and an LLB from Queen Mary University of London.

Tivana teaches Tax, Company, Insolvency, Competition, and Regional Law. Her research interest focuses on cross-border business activities and competition law policies. With Wahyuningtyas, she currently works on a GIZ project on consumer protection in ASEAN.

Mohammad Mohinuzzaman

Dr. Mohammad Mohinuzzaman is the Chairman, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management of Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. Mohammad’s research focuses on the planetary health, climate change adaptation, mitigation; wastewater treatment and management. Mohammad published more than thirty (30) research articles in peer reviewed journals. He is currently working as coordinator of CATA-Earth; ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE-STRAND-2 as well as leading another two research projects of WaterAid Bangladesh & Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Mohammad received his DPhil from Tianjin University (TJU), China, where he studied as a CSC scholar. During his PhD research work he conducted research on soil degradation mechanism in mountain area. Prior to coming to TJU, Mohammad completed his undergraduate and graduate program in Environmental Science from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. So far, he supervised 26 MS thesis works and 36 undergraduate research works. In future, he wants to leverage strong leadership skills and expertise to ensure sustainable development.

Siti Ruhama Mardhatillah

Siti is a PhD candidate in the Department of Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Public Administration at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on the policy and regulatory impacts of climate change litigation in Indonesia. By studying various cases of climate litigation from around the world, she aims to determine the type of judicial involvement that can effectively contribute to the advancement of climate policies and regulations. The ultimate goal of her research is to identify the appropriate judicial role in climate litigation within the context of Indonesia's legal jurisdiction. Apart from her PhD, Siti is an environmental law lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Law, University of Islam Indonesia.

Indah Wahyu Puji Utami is an Assistant Professor of history education at the History Department, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. She obtained her PhD in 2023 from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with a thesis titled ‘Discourses of the National Revolution in Indonesian History Textbooks, 1951-2017’, funded by the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). Since 2021, she has actively contributed to education in Indonesia by writing history textbooks for high school that advocat multiperspectivity. Published by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, these books are available in print, digital, and audio formats for free.

Currently, he focuses on implementing restorative justice and alternative sanctions to address prison overcrowding. Collaborating on a project, he explores global probation officers’ interactions with law enforcement, aligning with Indonesia’s new criminal and correctional laws.

Frank van Leth

associate professor Health Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Trained as a Medical Doctor in the field of Tropical Medicine, he worked as a Medical Office in-charge of a missionary hospital in Western Kenya. Upon his return, he pursued training in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. As an epidemiologist he has an affinity for contextual relevant methodological approaches to capture public health needs and design interventions. His research work is on the intersection of infectious diseases, research methodology, and social science. Having spent the earlier parts of his research career mainly on HIV and tuberculosis, his current activities revolve around antimicrobial resistance, and especially the surveillance thereof. He leads the Oasis consortium that seeks to improve antimicrobial resistance surveillance in a One-Health context. He has been chairman of TBnet, a European consortium consisting of clinicians, epidemiologist, biomedical scientists, and public health experts in the field of tuberculosis. He is currently associate editor for the Journal of Epidemiology and Community health.

Edwin de Jong

Associate Professor and Programme Director at Radboud University

Associate Professor and Programme Director at the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies, Radboud University. One of his recent publications, ‘Perceptions of Change’, encapsulates the focal point of his research and education interests. At the heart of his inquiry lies a fascination with the processes of change and the myriad ways people navigate, adapt to and anticipate crises, both past and impending. In other words, he delves into the intricate fabric of human responses to external pressures and disruptions within their environment, probing how local communities sculpt their everyday practices to confront or surmount these challenges. As such, he focusses on social-ecological interaction processes that affect local people’s livelihoods, wellbeing and control over land terrestrial and aquatic resources, using a mixed methods type of approach. He is currently (2021-2025), together with Prof. Bagus Takwin, heading the interdisciplinary programme ‘Resilient Indonesian Slums Envisioned (RISE)’, financed by Merian-NWO/Kemendikbud. To effectively address societal challenges and enhance students’ intrinsic motivation to learn, he has been awarded a Comenius Senior Fellowship (2024-2027) titled ‘Socially Engaged Learning: Active involvement and sustainable partnerships in higher education.

Bagus Takwin

Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia

Professor and dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Indonesia. His research focuses on self and identity, philosophy of psychology, social justice, well-being and positive institutions. He has been involved in many research projects dealing with socio-psychological phenomena, including inequality perception in 34 provinces in Indonesia, index of democracy measurement and subjective well-being based on democracy. On the side, he has published 13 books (in Bahasa Indonesia), among them a personality analysis of former president Soeharto and politician Fuad Hassan. Since 2020, he joined Cognition, Affect and Wellbeing research group which focus on exploration of the connection between cognition and affect in supporting mental health, positive interpersonal relation- ship, well-being and human welfare. Currently (2021–2025) together with Dr. Edwin de Jong from Radboud University, he is heading the interdisciplinary program “Resilient Indonesian Slums Envisioned (RISE): Building an inclusive governance with people and water to make social-ecological interactions more resilient to water-related disasters,” financed by NWO-WOTRO/RISTEK-BRIN.

currently studying social-ecological interactions in informal settlements in Indonesia as a postdoc in the RISE project. In this project she focuses on developing an interdisciplinary theoretical framework, in particular using assemblage theory, to study floods, water quality, and waste management in three cities in Indonesia. Her prior work has focused on drinking water quality governance and planning in Senegal and vulnerability to groundwater contamination in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Maria Yazdanbakhsh

Professor, Leiden University Center of Infectious Diseases board member, Head of Parasitology

Maria Yazdanbakhsh heads an interdisciplinary group of researchers in basic and clinical sciences who focus on understanding host-parasite interactions at the molecular, cellular and population level. The knowledge gained is being applied to contribute to 1) development of effective vaccines against parasitic diseases and 2) identification of parasite-derived immune modulatory molecules to control hyper-inflammatory diseases. Her team’s studies have led to in-depth characterization of highly specialized molecules that interact with the human host leading to immune modulation and metabolic change. This knowledge is used not only for anti-parasite vaccine development but also for developing new therapies for hyperinflammatory diseases with focus on asthma and type 2 diabetes. She has supported the establishment of the controlled human helminth infection center. The controlled infection models provide opportunities to test vaccines in a relatively short period of time and thus cut the costs and time. She is now concentrating on the effect of urbanization on the immune system and its consequences on health profiles. Through decades of work in Global South, she has developed technology platforms that in a minimally invasive manner can generate large datasets on the effect of environmental factors on the immune system. Maria Yazdanbakhsh has supervised 35 PhD students who successfully defended their thesis and is currently the “promotor” of 12 PhD candidates. Some of the PhDs and MD/PhDs have taken prominent positions in academia, in directing research centers, in industry and in Governmental organizations, some in Indonesia.

Dr Damayanti Soekarjo is the founder and managing director of Savica consultancy in Surabaya. Savica is a research consultancy in public health and communication, founded in 2011. She holds an MD from Utrecht University and a PhD in nutrition from the University of Amsterdam. Her interests are broad and she has been involved in various studies related to nutrition throughout the lifecycle, with a focus on childhood malnutrition. She led the implementation of an effectiveness and acceptability trial of locally produced RUTFs in Bogor (West Java) as well as the Solutions to Enhance Health with Alternative Treatments (SEHAT): double-blinded randomized controlled trial in Indonesia for gut microbiota-targeted treatment of severe acute malnutrition using rice bran in ready-to-use therapeutic foods in Jember (East Java). This work contributed to the development of an Indonesian RUTF standard. In addition, she led the evaluation of programmatic innovations to prevent and manage acute malnutrition in Indonesia (including screening at the household and early childhood development centres).

Puspo Edi Giriwono

Dr. Puspo Edi Giriwono currently serves as the Head of the SEAFAST Center-LPPM IPB and is a Lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Technology, FATETA IPB. He earned his Doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Nutrition from Tohoku University in 2012 and has conducted various research projects on the topic of the effects of bioactive/functional compounds on inflammation and related cellular signaling. Several research projects that have been followed also studied the effects of antioxidants in health. His management qualifications are reflected by several projects that are his responsibility and involve international partners. These projects are applied in training and conferences to educational projects such as international student exchanges. Silvia Barbazza is a Public Health Nutritionist pursuing her PhD at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Her research aims to provide comprehensive insights into the impact of an alternative formulation of locally produced Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food (RTUF), using local ingredients. The research focuses on acceptability short and long-term aspects of recovery, including body composition, the risk for later-life non-communicable diseases, and host-microbiome. Dr. Rico Ihle

Dr. Rico Ihle (Wageningen University, Netherlands) is associate professor at the Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy Group of Wageningen University. He holds a PhD in agricultural econo-mics and policy analysis from Göttingen University. His research – which has been published in almost 40 scientific articles in leading international journals – is centered around SDG2 "zero hunger" including the analysis of food markets and policies, economic aspects of food system resilience and sustainability transformations. Indonesia’s food system is one of his research interests. He has carried out research for the European Parliament, the EU’s Joint Research Center as well as Dutch governmental institutions.

Dr. Dadan Wardhana (Universitas Padjadjaran and government of Bandung regency, Indonesia) is Head of Division for Regional Economic and Natural Resources at Agency for Regional Planning, Research, Bandung Regency and Innovation and guest lecturer at Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, Universitas Padjadjaran. He holds a PhD in agricultural economics and rural policy from Wageningen University. Alongside his responsibility for planning and policymaking on the development of Bandung’s economy and natural resources, he is interested in doing research centered on SDG2, SDG11, and SDG12. His research includes economic aspects of agricultural policies, sustainable food systems and regional and rural development.

Dr. Kiki Rizky Soetisna Putri is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Art and Design, ITB, where she also serves as the head of the library and the Center for Indonesian Visual Art Studies (CIVAS ITB). Founded in 2017, CIVAS is a unique archival center that preserves and showcases the history of teaching and pedagogy of art history in Indonesia, with a special focus on the Bandung School—the oldest art school in the country, now known as the Faculty of Art and Design, ITB. Dr. Kiki earned her PhD from Bandung Institute of Technology, where her dissertation delved into the intersection of individual and collective practices with sociocultural issues in Bandung’s art scene post-2000. She is deeply engaged in research activities, including the reconstruction of the artistic practice and processes of the late female artist Umi Dachlan, exploring Dachlan’s artistic methods through archival studies and in-depth interviews. At CIVAS ITB, Dr. Kiki manages and curates a significant collection of heritage artifacts, focusing particularly on those related to the history of the Bandung School. She oversees the preservation, documentation, and research of these culturally important items, which include Hindu-Buddha artifacts and other heritage objects relocated during the colonial era. Her role at CIVAS ITB is in integrating historical collections with contemporary art practices and educational programs, ensuring that these artifacts continue to contribute to the understanding and teaching of Indonesian art history. She spearheads initiatives that combine archival research with modern technology, fostering collaborations that bring new perspectives on the provenance and significance of these artifacts within the narrative of Indonesian modern art.
