Speaker Profile - Who is Ed Martin?

Ed joined MCE as its Director in August 2022. He is an entrepreneurial leader with extensive experience in technological and creative industries. Ed was previously the CEO of education technology startup Clockwork Fox Studios. Their marque product, Zorbit's Math Adventure, is used by hundreds of thousands of teachers and students across Canada. Ed led the company from its inception through to its acquisition in April 2021 by US-based Carnegie Learning.

Previously, Ed worked as President/Producer of Best Boy Entertainment where he wrote and produced multiple kids' and documentary series, including Soccer Shrines, which saw him lead a small production crew to 13 cities around the globe. He also produced a feature film, Closet Monster, which won Best Canadian Feature at the Toronto International Film Festival.

His entrepreneurial journey began when he founded the Memorial University Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). His work with EWB ultimately brought him to Zambia where he worked for a year on several projects to support poverty alleviation in the country. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Memorial University), an MBA (Queen's University), and a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies (Concordia University).

Ed prides himself in being pretty serious about a whole lot of things, but without ever taking himself too seriously.
