As a descendent from a very medical family, Meike did not want to become a medical doctor, but could not leave the medical world behind. She obtained her BSc Health Science (VU Amsterdam 2017) and her MSc Epidemiology (Utrecht University 2019). Without any plan at all, Meike moved to Australia with her partner. After working for a small performance audit firm first, Meike joined Parexel in 2020 as a PK Analyst. A move to Spain in 2024 gave Meike the opportunity to work with other Parexel R-advocates and develop R-training. Meike is an R-enthusiast, has finally overcome her imposter-syndrome and likes outdoor sports.

Jason Bryer

Dr. Jason Bryer is currently an Assistant Professor and Associate Director in the Data Science and Information Systems department at the City University of New York. He is currently the Principal Investigator of the FIPSE ($3 million #P116F150077) and IES funded ($3.8 million R305A210269) Diagnostic Assessment and Achievement of College Skills (DAACS), which is a suite of technological and social supports designed to optimize student learning. Dr. Bryer’s other research interests include quasi-experimental designs with an emphasis on propensity score analysis, data systems to support formative assessment, and the use of open source software for conducting reproducible research. He is the author of over a dozen R packages, including three related to conducting propensity score analyses. When not crunching numbers, Jason is a wedding photographer and proud dad to three boys.

Eric Nantz is a director within the statistical innovation center at Eli Lilly and Company, creating analytical pipelines and capabilities of advanced statistical methodologies for clinical design used in multiple phases of development. Outside of his day job, Eric is passionate about connecting with and showcasing the brilliant R community in multiple ways. You may recognize his voice from the R-Podcast that he launched in 2012. Eric is also the creator of the Shiny Developer Series where he interviews authors of Shiny-related packages and practitioners developing applications, as well as sharing his own R and Shiny adventures via livestreams on his Twitch channel. Daniel Morillo Cuadrado

Liz Whelan-Jackson is Assistant Director of Research at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC). Liz joined GRC in 2022 and is passionate about making data more understandable and actionable through interactive data visualization as a tool to equitably improve health for all Ohioans. Before joining the GRC, Liz earned a master’s degree in city and regional planning from The Ohio State University and applied her professional interest in modeling complex regional systems through more than five years with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. In that role, Liz developed her technical skills working with a broad range of national, state, and local data to inform regional modeling and visualization activities. She worked with partners across domains, such as economics, housing, health, and the environment to inform MORPC’s role modeling population growth and transportation system demands.
