Lorenzo Longobardi
Consultant Data Scientist at WorldFish
I'm Lorenzo Longobardi, a data scientist with WorldFish since March 2021, where I've been committed to enhancing data analysis projects and initiatives aimed at sustainable fisheries. I earned my Ph.D. in Marine Sciences in 2020 from the Open University of London, in collaboration with Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Naples, Italy. My research focused on uncovering the biological and physicochemical dynamics of the pelagic environment through advanced statistical analysis and model development, analyzing global oceanographic time-series data. My expertise lies in data exploration, manipulation, and mining, alongside developing algorithms for automating data pipelines. Through my work, I leverage my skills in R, Shiny and Python to contribute to projects across Timor-Leste, Zanzibar, Kenya, and Mozambique, aiming to make a significant impact on marine conservation and the livelihoods of small-scale fisheries. Beyond my professional life, I'm passionate about diving, sailing, and photography—interests that keep me closely connected to the marine world I work to preserve
