Eliana Fu, PhD

Eliana has a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Imperial College and has extensive experience in metallics for both Traditional and Additive Manufacturing from TIMET to SpaceX and Relativity Space. She has previously advised Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Advanced Manufacturing Committee and was on the Technical Advisory Boards of IperionX and Fortius Metals. Recently recognized with the TCT Women in 3D Printing Innovator award in 2022, Eliana has been actively involved in industry leadership, including serving on SME’s Additive Manufacturing Technical Community Leadership Committee and TMS. Eliana joined TRUMPF in 2020 as Industry Manager: Aerospace where she continues to serve the Advanced Manufacturing, Laser and Aerospace community.

Mark Barkey, Ph.D.

Senior Associate Dean for Administration, Finance, and Faculty Affairs, University of Alabama

Dr. Mark E. Barkey is a Professor and Senior Associate Dean for the Styslinger College of Engineering at the University of Alabama. He served as Department Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from 2018-2024, and has been a professor since 1995. Dr. Barkey’s research is in the areas of durability testing and analysis of structures and materials and general mechanical testing and applied finite element analysis. He received a B.S. in Engineering Mechanics with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1989, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 1991 and 1993, respectively. Prior to his academic position, he was a Senior Engineer in the Fatigue Synthesis and Analysis group at General Motors Mid-Size Car Division in Warren, Michigan. While attending graduate school at the University of Illinois, he worked during the summers in the Structural Life Development Group of the Current Product Engineering Division of General Motors at the Milford Proving Grounds. Dr. Barkey is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) and serves as Editor for the SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing. He has received the SAE Arch T. Colwell Merit Award and Forrest R. McFarland Award, and is registered professional engineer in the state of Alabama.

Thiago Malagrino, PhD

Thiago Malagrino, Ph.D., has 25 years of professional experience across international and Brazilian companies, with a career spanning R&D, application engineering, business development, and strategic marketing. Dr. Malagrino has extensive experience in implementing technical solutions, launching new B2B products, and managing innovation-driven projects in industrial environments. His background also includes supporting commercial strategies, supply chain management, cost optimization, and leading cross-functional teams. Currently, he works as an R&D Specialist at NIONE, a deep-tech company focused on the development and industrial application of nanotechnology-based solutions. His work is centered on the design and scale-up of advanced nanocomposites, bridging fundamental materials science and real-world engineering challenges. Dr. Malagrino, who specializes in polymeric materials and applied research, holds a BS and an MS in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology (Mackenzie University, Brazil), an Executive MBA in Leadership and Management (ESMT, Berlin, Germany), and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil).
