Dr. Samir Khan is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Tokyo. He studied Control Systems for his doctoral thesis at Loughborough University in 2010. From 2011 to 2015, he was the leading researcher working on the No Fault Found research project at the Through-life Engineering Services Centre at Cranfield University and was instrumental in establishing and growing research activities at the center. Dr. Khan was the recipient of the prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowship award in 2016 for developing an informatics platform for next-generation health monitoring services. His track record includes managing a technology laboratory, focusing on demonstrating autonomous systems, and digitalization of spacecraft design. Dr. Khan’s research and teaching are concerned with a variety of practical applications of intelligent systems, usually within the aerospace domain. Specific projects are focused on active health monitoring, advanced sensor networks for spacecraft systems, dynamic modeling and simulation, and the application of machine learning for system health management. His projects are characterized by strong industrial collaboration supported by excellent links with universities and research organizations worldwide.

Sven Beiker, PhD, is the Founder and Managing Director of Silicon Valley Mobility, a mobility consulting and advisory firm that specializes in technical diligence, product roadmaps, and business models for mobility topics. The engagements span start-ups, investors, and corporations in mobility and adjacent industries. In addition, Dr. Beiker is a lecturer at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, where he instructs students on strategies for start-ups and corporations in the field of automated, connected, electrified, and shared mobility. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Borås, Sweden, where he lectures and researches the field of artificial intelligence in product development. With 30 years of experience gained during his tenure at McKinsey and Company, Stanford University, and the BMW Group, Dr. Beiker is dedicated to the future of the automobile and personal mobility. His mission is to improve sustainability, safety, efficiency, and convenience in vehicles and how consumers use them. He combines perspectives from technology, business, policy, and human factors. Dr. Beiker also serves on advisory boards of several start-ups in the mobility space, as an advisor to the German American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco, and as an advisor/co-editor to the Lecture Notes in Mobility of Springer Nature. He is a continuing contributor to the SAE Edge™ Research Report series.

Silvia Ionbriller, PhD, first graduated in Aeronautical Engineering, but she soon changed her career to develop research in Brake Systems for ground vehicles. She obtained her doctorate from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, focused on this particular knowledge area. With 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Silvia has worked for the Ford Motor Company for 22 years. She currently leads the Brakes and Suspension teams for commercial vehicles in North America. Dr. Ionbriller has published over 20 papers published and presented, being an active member of SAE Brazil, where she was member of the Technical Committee, the Executive Board and the SAE Women group. She represented Ford and led the review group for brake standards and regulations in Brazil, in addition to being a professor in the Postgraduate Course in Automotive Mechanics at the Maua Institute of Technology.
