Karin qualified as a nurse in 1987 from Bart’s Hospital. Since then she has worked in a variety of clinical areas including critical care. As the Nurse Consultant for Pain Management in a large NHS district general hospital foundation Trust, she works clinically with inpatients and outpatients. Karin is the service lead for the Inpatient/Acute and Outpatient/Chronic pain services that are provided to the 3 hospitals in her Trust. Passionate about patient comfort, staff support and education Karin co-authored the RCN’s Pain Knowledge and Skills Framework for the Nursing Team in 2015 and its revision in 2021. A long-term member of the British Pain Society and co-opted council member, Karin is a steering committee member of the RCN’s Pain and Palliative Cre forum. Karin’s research interests include non-medical prescribing and opioid reduction in patients with long-term use.

Emma Davies is a pharmacist and has worked in pain management for 18 years. She works across primary and secondary care for a Health Board in South Wales. Emma provides clinical support and advice to colleagues from a range of professions and a spectrum of specialties, especially for complex management including substance misuse. She runs primary care clinics for persistent pain management and works with acute pain teams in three hospitals within the health board area. In addition, Emma advises Welsh Government in relation to analgesic prescribing and pain management and is Co-founder of the LiveWellwithPain website.

Felicia is a Nurse Consultant in Pain Management. She is a past Chair of RCN Pain and Palliative Care Forum and is a co-opted member of the Council of the British Pain Society. She is a committee member of the EFIC Covid Task Force and EFIC Research Strategy group, Secretary of the IASP Acute Pain Special Interest Group, Chair of the BPS Acute Pain SIG and a founder member of the Pain Nurse Network. Felicia is the co-editor of the British Journal of Pain. She is widely published including e-learning modules on pain and medicine safety and has contributed to several FPM, RCoA, BPS and EFIC publications. . She has been awarded Honorary Membership of the British Pain Society and Fellowship of the RCN for her services to pain. Her clinical and research interests include chronic post surgical pain and procedural pain and enjoys supporting novice authors to publish and disseminate their work.
