Carlene has worked in legal tech for as long as Daft Punk have been a thing. Carlene trained as a lawyer and worked as a barrister in Auckland, New Zealand, before she was drawn to tech, and to helping lawyers navigate legal tech. In this capacity she has worked in large law firms across London and Auckland before moving into SaaS and Customer Success in 2018. Carlene joined LawVu in 2021 and is currently based in London where she leads a team of LawVu CSMs around the globe. At LawVu, Carlene has found great joy in having conversations with people who also found their passion outside private practice law firms: the in-house community.

Shaun Plant

Shaun is InView's Community Evangelist and Chief Legal Evangelist for LawVu. Shaun is a seasoned legal professional with a background spanning private practice, and in-house in government and private enterprises. He is a guru in Legal Project Management (LPM), with a Masters degree in the subject, and provides LPM training through The College of Law. He is on a mission to empower in-house legal professionals to realise the true value of their work, by being better connected with their work, their business and with business outcomes.

Before joining LawVu, David spent 10 years building and leading the eBay Classifieds Group Legal Team; rising to VP, Global Head of Legal and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. eBay Classifieds Group had over $1bil revenue and operated market leading online classifieds businesses in 11+ jurisdictions globally, head-quartered in Amsterdam. David and his team of 25 professionals successfully facilitated the $9.2bil sale of the eBay Classifieds business in 2021. Before eBay, David was General Counsel of an online payments and encryption start-up in London and General Counsel of QVC UK for 5 years. David is a member of the FL, NY and CA Bar and is an English Solicitor. He also holds an LLM from the University of London in Communications and Technology Law. David is based in Los Gatos, California.

Dan Young leads the product, engineering, design, and data teams at LawVu. He brings a wealth of experience to the team from his time at Xero and some of New Zealand’s major banking institutions. Dan is known for delivering impactful and inspiring product strategy and helping team’s execute. He is passionate about what technology can do for the in-house legal function and is pushing for more of a focus on APIs, developer experience, and app ecosystem development. Her role is full service and has focused primarily on large M&A transactions from the acquisition of various businesses like Leon to more recently disposals of parts of the business to Asda and KFC UK. After questioning several times during the early part of her career whether she was suited to a career in law she has now found a role that allows her to use the skills required to be a good technical lawyer combined with her passion for people development and leadership. She is currently studying for an Apprenticeship and Post Graduate Diploma in Senior Leadership with Alliance Manchester Business School to broaden her knowledge and skills for career progression whether that be in a legal role or otherwise. Last year Lida won In House Rising Star of the Year award at Legal 500’s Legal Business awards and earlier this year her team won In House Diversity Team of the Year at Legal 500’s Northern Powerhouse awards. Global Head of Legal Operations, Technology and Consulting

Rachita Maker is the Global Head of Legal Operations, Technology and Consulting at DWF. She boasts more than two decades of global legal industry experience, responsible for revolutionizing legal departments, introducing bespoke processes across multiple geographies and providing a guiding voice to our clients along their legal operations journeys. Rachita is passionate about solving client problems. As a forward-looking professional, she believes in being solution- and result-oriented, devising simple and creative solutions to complex issues. Prior to joining DWF, Rachita was Vice President – Legal at a large India-based telecommunications company. There she was responsible for leading the legal department’s transformational journey to be more technology and data driven. She led multiple technology implementations and continuous improvement and automation projects, as well as headed the Compliance division. She has also served as Vice President – Legal Services at a US-based Alternative Legal Services Provider. There she led the India Legal Services team of more 1000 legal and non-legal professionals. Prior to that, she worked as Director for a “Big 4” Accounting Firm’s contract lifecycle management solutions team, where she oversaw the development of new solutions, improvements to workflow and quality control processes and the management of complex client engagements. She has also consulted with a Dubai-based private equity firm to set up Sri Lanka’s first ALSP. Rachita is a thought leader in the legal industry who has been recognised as a leading Legal Operations trailblaser. She has curated Legal Operations 1 on 1 series where she discusses pertinent questions relating to legal industry with other leaders. She has authored a number of blog posts which have been posted on various websites including CLOC. In her spare time, she enjoys experiential traveling, bringing joy through cooking and running several times a week.
