Eric Tarczynski is the founder of Contrary Capital, a venture fund focusing on a talent-first approach to investing. A graduate of Northeastern University, Eric cut his teeth in the start-up world as a founder before joining the Lyft-acquired Kamcord. After learning firsthand at his start-ups the challenges facing young entrepreneurs to launch their own companies beyond the first $25,000 raise, he decided to tackle the challenge on behalf of the young entrepreneurs of the future. In 2017, he started Contrary Capital to focus on identifying young talent and supporting them throughout their careers. He now manages more than $100 million across Contrary’s funds, backed by some of the industry’s giants from tech companies like Airbnb, Meta, Tesla, and Twitch. Through Contrary, Eric has helped start-ups like Vise and Hallow get their first bits of funding and helped others like Anduril and Ramp get the additional backing they need to get to the next level.
