Dr. Diana Isaacs, PharmD, CDCES

Panel Moderator; Director of Education and Training in Diabetes Technology, Cleveland Clinic

Diana Isaacs, PharmD, BCPS, BC-ADM, BCACP, CDCES, FADCES, FCCP is an endocrine clinical pharmacy specialist and the Director of Education and Training in Diabetes Technology at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Isaacs earned her PharmD from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the Philadelphia VA. Dr. Isaacs serves in leadership roles for several pharmacy and diabetes organizations. She served on the ADA Professional Practice Committee for 2020-2023, the committee that updates the ADA Standards of Care. She is a national board member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). Dr. Isaacs was awarded the Ohio Pharmacists Association Under 40 Award in 2019 and was the 2020 ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year. In 2022, she was inducted into the SIUE Hall of Fame for her far-reaching contributions in patient care.

Dr. Natalie Bellini, DNP FNP-BC BC-ADM CDCES

Natalie Bellini, DNP FNP-BC BC-ADM CDCES Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University Endocrine Nurse Practitioner and Program Director Diabetes Technology, University Hospitals Diabetes and Metabolic Care Center (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) Dr. Bellini is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and Endocrine Nurse Practitioner at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio where she is the Program Director of Diabetes Technology following approximately fifty-five thousand people with diabetes. Dr. Bellini earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Drexel University and Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice from D’Youville University. Dr. Bellini holds board certifications as a family nurse practitioner and in advanced diabetes management. She has published studies on topics including the use of GLP-1 agonists in patients with Type 1 diabetes as well as the use of technology in diabetes management. She has been a speaker nationally and internationally regarding diabetes management and the impact of technology on diabetes care and outcomes.

Anders L Carlson, MD

Anders L. Carlson, MD, is Associate Executive Director of the International Diabetes Center (IDC) in Minneapolis, MN, and an endocrinologist at HealthPartners and Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He also serves as the Director of the Diabetes Program for HealthPartners. He is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, European Association for the Study of Diabetes, Endocrine Society and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Dr. Carlson received his MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed his internal medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He trained in endocrinology and diabetes at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. His current research efforts are centered on diabetes technology, novel therapies for diabetes, and clinician education. He is a principal investigator on several clinical trials looking at new diabetes therapeutics focusing on automated insulin delivery systems in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and continuous glucose monitoring systems in diverse populations including pregnancy. In conjunction with the team at IDC, he has published several articles and made numerous presentations about glucose data interpretation and the use of the Ambulatory Glucose Profile (AGP).

Dr. Anita Swamy

Dr. Anita Swamy is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  She is also an Associate Clinician at Lurie Children’s.  She serves as the President of Medical Staff at La Rabida Children’s Hospital and is the Medical Director of the Chicago Children’s Diabetes Center.  In her role as Medical Director, she oversees a comprehensive team of specialists who treat children with diabetes on the south side of Chicago as well as in Indiana, and surrounding suburbs.  She sits on the Breakthrough T1D executive board and on the ADA youth strategies committee, and volunteers for diabetes training camp, a camp for athletes with diabetes  As the daughter of a person with diabetes who suffered numerous complications, she is passionate about education and feels educating and empowering people with diabetes is the key to success.   She has received numerous awards over the past 5 years including Chicago Top Doc, Exceptional Women in Medicine, and Breakthrough T1D Outreach Award as well as Excellence in Outreach award at Lurie Children’s.

Rifka Schulman-Rosenbaum, MD, FACE, FACP

Rifka Schulman-Rosenbaum, MD, FACE, FACP is the Associate Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, and Director of Inpatient Diabetes at Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center, Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, NY, and a Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum specializes in management of inpatient diabetes and inpatient endocrinology. She runs a busy inpatient endocrine service, including supervision of a multidisciplinary diabetes team as well as endocrine fellows and other trainees. Under her leadership LIJ Medical Center has maintained certification with the Joint Commission for Advanced Inpatient Diabetes since 2014. Her research focuses on areas relating to inpatient diabetes, including SGLT2i management, hyperglycemia due to COVID-19 and Diabetes intervention in the emergency department. She was the recipient of The Salzman Award for Excellence in Quality for Northwell Health in 2019, Northwell Health Teacher of the Year for 2023 and the 2024 Patients’ Choice Award. Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum is the Chair for the 2026 American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) annual meeting and is serving on the AACE Board of Directors. Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum is the editor of a book entitled “Diabetes Management in Hospitalized Patients: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide.” Dr. Schulman-Rosenbaum also recently served as Chair for the Adult sub-group on an international guidance document to formalize monitoring of early-stage type 1 diabetes.

Jill Weissberg-Benchell, Ph.D

Jill Weissberg-Benchell, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and an Attending Pediatric Psychologist and the Psychology Director of Integrated Care at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. She has over 30 years of research experience and clinical work with children, adolescents and families with diabetes and their families. Her academic appointment is as a Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She has funded 8 post-doctoral fellows, and has served as a mentor to other scholars around the world. She has authored over 100 articles. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatric Psychology. She is a co-author of two books, one that focuses on transitioning from pediatric to adult care, and another that focuses on working with adolescents with type 1 diabetes. She offers workshops and lectures to colleagues and to families living with diabetes that address issues such as family adaptation and coping, building adolescent resilience, the use of technology (CGM, Pumps and the Artificial Pancreas), and transitioning from pediatric to adult care. She has served a variety of leadership roles including a past president of the Behavioral Research in Diabetes Group Exchange (BRIDGE), the chair of the American Diabetes Association’s Youth Strategies National Committee.
