Gillian Lee

Partner

Gillian has been with Crowe MacKay LLP since 2003 and provides taxation and financial planning services, including personal tax planning and retirement planning services, to individuals. She provides bookkeeping, financial statements, audit, and tax services to private corporations. Gillian instructs numerous training courses, and assists clients with completing business plans. In Gillian’s 15 years with Crowe MacKay, she has worked with both large and complex businesses, and small to medium-sized owner-managed businesses.

Daniel Sturgess

Partner

Daniel’s primary areas of focus are business valuations and litigation support, fair value for financial reporting, and corporate finance activities. A Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), Daniel is also Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). With over 20 years of experience, Daniel has been involved in hundreds of valuations and litigation support assignments across a wide range of industries. He provides independent, expert reports and testimony in connection with business valuations, litigation support, and forensic reviews and investigations. He has qualified before the British Columbia Supreme Court and focuses on family law, personal injury, shareholder dispute, and commercial litigation assignments. Daniel provides valuations of intangible assets for financial reporting purposes, including preparing purchase price allocation, goodwill and intangible asset impairment reports. He also performs valuations in connection with the purchase and sale of business interests, performs due diligence services (quality of earnings reports), and assists both purchasers and sellers in the negotiation of terms for the purchase. Daniel provides valuations in respect of corporate reorganizations; estate planning assignments; management buy outs; going private transactions (fairness opinions); and formal valuations.

Andrew McGuinness

Andrew focuses on business valuations and economic quantifications for litigation, taxation, transactions, and financial reporting. He has extensive experience in business modeling, private equity and venture capital valuation support, and financial reporting valuation support. Andrew assists with fair value work for financial reporting purposes, including purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment, asset impairment, corporate reorganizations, private equity valuations, and complex securities. He provides independent expert reports for shareholder disputes, commercial litigation, and personal injury.

Mickey Goldstein

Associate, Accounting Advisory

Mickey provides advisory and consulting services to both private and public companies and not-for-profit organizations. She specializes in mining, technology, manufacturing, real estate and medical industries. Mickey has a keen understanding of public company operations, restructurings, acquisitions and IPOs. She provides transactional services to companies in Canada and United States in relation to initial public offerings, acquisitions, and prospectus filings. Mickey has several years of experience servicing complex public companies, with offices and operations around the world. She has extensive experience assisting clients in areas such as Canadian and US/SEC securities filings, complex accounting transactions, public financings, and with various “going public” transactions. Mickey also offers fractional CFO services to public companies in Canada, as well as private companies intending to go public. Mickey has experience with companies spanning a wide range of industries, namely mining, technology, manufacturing, real estate, and medical industries. She has worked as both a public company auditor, as well as part of the management team of public companies, making her a great resource to public companies requiring assistance with their audits, and other financial reporting requirements.

Cathy provides advisory services to both private and public companies and not-for-profit organizations. Cathy also offers fractional CFO services. She has a keen understanding of private company operations. Cathy builds close client relationships to provide peace of mind during various stages of start-up, growth, maturity and eventually exit strategy of their businesses. She listens closely to her clients’ needs to ensure that she can provide sound and practical business advice. With 20 years of experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, Cathy helped a wide range of businesses to streamline business operations that drive growth and increase efficiency. Over the years, she demonstrated her solid leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with all levels of staff and management.
