Millibeth Currie
Founder/Program Director of Women in Charge: Engineering Women’s Lives, Tulane Alumni Association Board of Directors
Here’s a much shorter version that keeps her major accomplishments, Newcomb connection, and Women in Charge work while removing repetition:
Millibeth Currie is an award-winning educator, STEM advocate, and founder of **Women in Charge: Engineering Women’s Lives**, a program she created in 2002 to empower young women to envision futures in science, technology, engineering, and math. With more than 33 years in education, she has dedicated her career to STEM education, gender equity, leadership, and helping students develop the confidence to reach their full potential. Her many honors include the 2024 South Carolina STEM Educator of the Year and national recognition for innovation in learning.
A graduate of Tulane University with an M.S. from Loyola University, Millibeth currently serves as President of the Tulane Alumni Association Board of Directors. Her deep connection to Newcomb began as a student, where leadership opportunities and exposure to influential voices helped shape her lifelong commitment to education, advocacy, and mentorship. She received the Newcomb Alumnae Association Community Service Award in 2018 and the Under the Oaks Award for Educators in 2024.
