Kris Desjarlais

Director Indigenous Education, Assiniboine Community College

As Director of Indigenous Education, Kris manages the delivery of services for Indigenous students, coordinates the college’s Indigenization strategy, and provides leadership in training college staff on Indigenous cultural competency and safety. A member of the Métis and Cree Nations, Kris works to ensure First Nation, Metis and Inuit students experience a respectful and engaging learning environment.

Jacob Crane

Tsuut’ina Nation, Flint Hub Program Manager

Jacob is from Tsuut'ina Nation located in Treaty 7 territory and brings two decades of experience in supporting Indigenous communities throughout North America. Jacob is an advocate and innovator for Indigenous businesses and builds frameworks that are inclusive to Indigenous people. In 2021, he was a part of the Renewing Indigenous Economies at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University and is an Aspen Institute Ideas Festival Fellow. He has also received congressional recognition from United States Secretary of State Deb Haaland. Each year Jacob gives back to his community through a grassroots initiative that provides access to funding for Tsuut’ina people.

Alice Potter

Brandon Police Services and ACC Public Safety Instructor

I was born and raised in the Westman area and entered policing in 2008 with the Brandon Police Service. Throughout my career with BPS, I have enjoyed various positions including patrol, traffic, training, school resource officer and lastly my secondment to Assiniboine Community College as the Public Safety instructor. During my time in traffic, I specialized in collision reconstruction, impaired driving, and drug recognition. Teaching has always been my passion, from kindergarten as an SRO to college as an acting sergeant, finding innovative ways to instruct has always been very rewarding. Fostering community connections, I developed and ran the BPS youth Cadet Corps for several years and I am currently on the board for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
